Company Bios

Carl H. Long, President.

Carl is a dedicated professional with over 20 years of work and consulting experience in the Information Technology industry. He holds degrees in Electronic Engineering and Business, is a Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA+) and Certified Netware Engineer. He is also a presenter at many industry events/conferences on the topics of Electronic Document Management, Business Intelligence and Business Process Engineering. Carl has been the President of UBS since '06. Carl enjoys being a dad, golfing, high-performance driving and reading. He and his wife, Melody, have been married for 25 years and have 1 daughter, Carla Mei who is 3.

Brian Sabin, Chief Operations Officer.

Brian has over fifteen years of work experience in the technology field. Prior to leading the technical team at Unity Business Systems, he worked in product solutions. He has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. Brian enjoys golfing, surfing, snowboarding and playing guitar. Brian, with his wife Carol and six-year-old daughter Kelly, live in Smithfield, Virginia.

Joseph Kennedy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Joe has been a System Consultant with Unity Business Systems for the past six years. He recently was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Joe is a consummate professional with over twenty years of technology experience. He holds a degree in Management Information Services from Canisius College and has managed large integration projects for Bell South, AT&T affiliates and several municipalities. Outside interests include flying RTF airplanes, cooking and golfing - when he's not following his two active children. Joe is located in Richmond, Virginia.

Elizabeth Naff, Project Manager.

Elizabeth has over twenty years of experience in the technology field.  For the last seven years, she has worked for Symantec Corporation as a Software Engineer and Quality Assurance Lead for several Symantec products. Elizabeth has a degree in Management Information Systems from Old Dominion University, as well as a certificate of Software Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base). She enjoys reading, cooking, and crafting in her spare time.  Elizabeth lives in Hampton, Virginia with her husband Mark and their two energetic boys – eight-year-old Samuel and five-year-old TJ. 

John Geist, Director of Professional Services.

John has been with UBS for over 10 years. He has grown through the ranks - first employed as an installer, then later involved with Technical Support and Inside Sales. He is currently the Director of Professional Services and Technical Support. John has 19 years experience in the technology field with a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He also earned his CDIA+ certification in 2005. John and his wife of 5 years, MaryLee, live in Newport News, Virginia with her daughter, Lauren, 16, and their chocolate lab, J.D. John also enjoys golfing and playing the guitar.

Timothy Ilardi, Scanning Services Manager.

Tim has been working for Unity Business Systems since he graduated from George Mason University in 2004 with a degree in English.  He began as a scanning technician and worked his way up to the position of Scanning Services Manager.  Recently, he completed his CDIA+ and also received his Professional Writing Certificate from Thomas Nelson Community College. Timothy’s outside interests include writing and recording music, reading, disc golf and playing his Xbox360.  He currently resides in Hampton, Virginia with his wife, Christine and their two Corgi puppies.

Matthew Childress, Corporate Chaplain.

Matt has been serving with Corporate Chaplains of America since '06. He graduated from Appalachian State in '89 with a B.S. and received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in '94. Matt has been married to Scotia since January '90, and they have 4 daughters. Before serving as a chaplain, he served as a pastor/church planter. Matt enjoys tropical fish-keeping and football in his spare time. Recently, he published his first book, "Abigail Parker and the Shade Tree" and hopes to write more in the future.
